Material and use

Cubeco is made from demolition materials. Instead of being landfilled, the materials are cleaned and recycled into new raw materials with the help of WasteX technology. Examples of demolition materials used in the manufacture of Cubecos are glass, brick, concrete and mineral wool.
After the WasteX process the materials can be used either as raw materials for geopolymers, which are suitable for outdoor products, or as indoor products created using “just add water” recipes.

Construction waste, which previously caused environmental problems, will serve as a source for new raw materials in the future.

1. Dismantling and pre-sorting of waste

The material collected from the demolition sites is pre-sorted for cleaning.

2. Cleaning

The demolition material is cleaned and separated from plastics, wood, metals and aggregates.

3. Crushing

The cleaned demolition material, such as mineral wool, bricks, concrete or glass, is crushed into a coarse grain size.

4. Grinding

The crushed demolition material is ground into a fine powder, which can be used as a raw material for the production of concrete-like materials.

EcoUp material technology, Geoblend®

Waste-based recycled raw materials can be put to good use with the help of our material innovations. When cement (concrete’s binder) is completely or partially replaced with a waste-based binder, a hard material similar to concrete is produced, with a carbon footprint that is up to 80% lower compared to concrete.

Applications

A material similar to concrete, Geoblend® can be used as various coatings, cast or pressed infrastructure and decoration products or, for example, as a multipurpose Cubeco designed for urban construction. In this way, demolition waste gets a new life as high-value products instead of landfill.
